The short version: Votel's AI agents can answer website chats, text messages and email, look up answers in a knowledge base you load with the client's information, and book appointments or update the CRM along the way. Package that as a setup fee plus a monthly plan (my examples run $149 to $497 a month) and you're selling speed to lead, not software.
Text · 9:47 PMHi, can I book a cleaning this week?
Reply · 8:15 AM next daySorry for the slow reply! Still looking for a time?
8:40 AMThanks, already booked somewhere else.
The person who asked messaged two competitors. Whoever answered first got the work.
Text · 9:47 PMHi, can I book a cleaning this week?
AI agent · 9:47 PMHappy to help. I have Wednesday at 9:00 or Friday at 2:00. Which suits you?
9:48 PMFriday works.
Booked before the owner even looks at their phone.
What the owner is buying
Not "a chatbot." The leads they currently lose to slow replies.
Ask a business owner how fast they reply to a new enquiry and you'll usually get an honest wince. They're on a job, with a patient, or asleep. Meanwhile the person who asked has already messaged two competitors, and whoever answers first tends to get the work.
That's what you're selling: every message gets a useful reply within seconds, at any hour, and the good ones turn into booked appointments before the owner even looks at their phone.
"Right now, a website chat at 10 at night waits until morning. With this, it gets a useful answer in seconds and a booking if they're ready. You see every conversation, and your team can jump in any time."
What Votel gives you
The channels Votel's documentation confirms today, and the ones on the way.
The channels an agent can answer
- ◎Website chat
- SMSText messages
- IGInstagram DMsSoon
- FBMessengerSoon
- TTTikTok messagesSoon
- XXSoon
Votel's website widget puts an AI agent on any site as a chat window, a button or a floating orb, with voice as an option. It embeds with one snippet on Votel sites, WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace or custom HTML.
Give the agent a phone number and it can send and receive SMS on that number, including follow-ups after a call. In the US, business texting needs A2P 10DLC registration first.
Connect an email sender identity and the agent can send follow-ups and handle requests that arrive by email. Votel's email agent can also read replies to campaigns, sort them into classes you define (wants a quote, has a question, wants to unsubscribe) and act on each one.
Upload the client's price sheet, FAQ or policies, or point it at their website, and the agent answers from that material instead of guessing.
Agents can book appointments, update CRM records and trigger workflows during a conversation. Every thread lands in one shared inbox, so the client's team can step in at any time.
Votel's documentation lists Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger, TikTok Business Messaging and X as coming soon to the inbox, and Votel's plan comparison includes Comment to DM. Until those are live in your account, don't sell AI replies to social messages. Sell what works today and add social to the package the week it ships. It's a great reason to call every client back.
Instructions to start every client's agent
You are the front desk assistant for [Business name], a [type of business] in [city]. Tell people at the start that they're chatting with an AI assistant. Answer questions only from the knowledge base: services, hours, location, policies and FAQs. For a new enquiry, collect their name, phone number and email, and what they need. If they're ready, offer the next available appointment times and book one. Hand off to the team, without answering, for: [exact quotes / medical or legal advice / complaints / anything else on the list]. Keep replies short, friendly and in plain language. Don't invent prices, discounts, availability or policies. If the answer isn't in the knowledge base, say so and offer to have someone follow up.
Choose your packages
Each package is a setup fee plus a monthly plan. All prices are my examples, not Votel pricing.
What the market already charges
Agencies selling AI chat on HighLevel and similar platforms publish prices in this neighbourhood:
One agency blog and one setup agency aren't a survey, so read these as a rough guide. They line up with the ladder below, which starts small enough for a one-person business and leaves room to grow.
Three packages you could offer
- AI chat agent on their website
- Trained on their site, services and FAQs
- Captures name, phone and email
- New leads sent to the owner
- Monthly answer check
For a business whose website gets visitors but few enquiries.
- Everything in AI Website Chat
- Replies to text messages on their number
- Email follow-up for every new lead
- Books appointments into their calendar
- Leads and conversations in the CRM
Where speed to lead pays for itself.
- Everything in AI Lead Responder
- Email agent sorting campaign replies
- Custom follow-up workflows
- Weekly conversation review and tuning
- Social DMs added once Votel releases them
For busy businesses that want every text channel covered.
Votel bills AI usage and text messages separately from the plan. Either include a monthly allowance in your price or pass usage through at cost, and say which in the proposal.
You have a setup fee and a monthly price for each package, you've decided how usage is covered, and you can explain the difference between packages in one sentence.
Run the numbers
AI automations price higher than social or websites because the value is easy to see: one extra booked job often covers the month. Here's the $297 AI Lead Responder alone:
Setup fees come on top, and they pay for the hours you spend loading the knowledge base and testing. Try your own mix:
The "left after the plan" figure is before AI usage, text messages, your time and any help you hire. Usage grows with conversation volume, so check it monthly for your busiest clients. It's a planning number, not a promise.
Stack more services
AI automations sit right on top of the first two parts of the series.
The website you built is where the chat widget lives, and the social posts you manage send people to it. Then add voice AI, so the phone gets the same instant answer as the chat.
Part 4 covers voice AI: an AI receptionist and phone agents, built with the same agent and knowledge base you set up here. The build steps are already in the AI receptionist playbook.
Launch this week
Five steps from "I could sell this" to an agent a client can trust.
1. Pick one kind of business
The questions a dental office gets are nothing like a roofer's. One niche means one knowledge base template you can reuse. The niche finder can help.
2. Build a demo agent on your own site
Load a knowledge base for a sample business in that niche, add the chat widget, and let prospects try it. Nothing sells this faster than chatting with it.
3. Write the handoff rules first
Decide what the agent should never answer (exact quotes, medical or legal advice, complaints) and where those conversations go. Clients relax once they see that list.
4. Test it like a difficult customer
Use the test panel in the agent builder. Ask the same question five different ways, ask things that aren't in the knowledge base, and fix what breaks.
5. Show the owner a weekly summary
How many conversations, how many leads, how many bookings. That number is what renews the contract.
Get these right
Five habits that keep clients happy and keep you out of trouble.
A short line in the greeting is honest and avoids a bad surprise later.
Text people who asked to hear from the business, register for A2P 10DLC in the US, and honour stop requests. The phone migration guide covers A2P 10DLC.
Prices, hours and services change. Re-upload or re-crawl whenever they do, or the agent will confidently quote last year's prices.
Promise fast, accurate replies and clean handoffs. The leads depend on traffic you don't control.
Social DMs are on Votel's coming-soon list. Sell them when they ship, not before.
The bigger idea
Every business already has conversations happening without them. Your job is to make sure each one gets an answer, and then show the owner what those answers turned into. That report is worth more to them than any feature list.
Ready to build your demo agent? Start a Votel account, load a knowledge base for one business in your niche, and put the chat widget on a test page.
Common questions
Can a Votel AI agent answer my client's website chats?
Yes. Votel's website widget embeds an AI agent on any website as a chat window, a button or a floating orb, with optional voice. The agent answers from the knowledge base you give it and can capture lead details or book appointments.
Can a Votel agent reply to Instagram and Facebook messages?
Not yet. Votel's documentation lists Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger, TikTok Business Messaging and X as coming soon to the inbox, and Votel's plan comparison includes Comment to DM. Check what's live in your account before you sell social replies to a client.
How much should I charge for AI automations?
The example packages on this page run from $149 to $497 a month plus a setup fee of $250 to $750, based on the channels covered and how much tuning is included. They are examples, not Votel pricing, so price for your market and cover AI and texting usage in your plan.
Will the AI agent make things up?
It answers from the knowledge base you load, so keep that material accurate and current. Test in the agent builder before launch, write clear handoff rules for anything sensitive, and review conversations regularly. Votel's email reply actions do nothing when a reply doesn't clearly match a class.
Which Votel plan do I need to sell AI automations?
Keep each client in their own sub-account so their agents, contacts and conversations stay separate. Votel's $97 Pro plan includes five sub-accounts, and the $297 Unlimited Agency Pro plan adds unlimited sub-accounts and white labelling. AI usage and text messages are billed separately.
